Welcome To The Art Studio
• After learning specific skills presented in lessons and demos, (through guided practice, bootcamps, and mastery quizzes) students will create their own goals and learning outcomes based on the skills to master.
• Students will make their own choices in learning and are expected to track their progress, reflect daily (blogging or Vlogging) and showcasing or presenting their work to others.
• Students are allowed to move forward once they have mastered the skill presented in lesson and demonstrated their understanding.
• Students are expected to prove mastery of each skill through demonstration, blogging, quizzes, reflections and presentations.
• An end of the year showcase of work will be presented for students, familes and the public. Please support your students and the Silver Oak community by attending the showcase.
- The Art Studio is a place to be an artist. Both digital and traditional art is part of the art studio work space. Students are encouraged to work independently and in small groups to complete 3 (or more) self-paced units (study guides) per quarter, culminating into a "big idea" or final project of their choice using the skills acquired while working through the units. The projects are how students are assessed.
- Units of study (in the form of Study Guides) are focused on thinking and behaving like an artist. (For more information on this theory please see this link) http://teachingforartisticbehavior.org
